This excellent plains game package contains all the essential animals any African hunter should have! This outfitter has an abundance of extremely high-quality animals on this concession. This hunt occurs on a game reserve that receives very little hunting pressure! They have lots of big kudu and Cape buffalo on this reserve! All of the big 5 except lions can be found here. The lodge is a 4-hour trip from OR Tambo airport, so no extra flights will be needed once you arrive!
About the Animals:
Kudus are magnificent antelopes found in the woodlands and scrublands of Africa, distinguished by the impressive spiral horns of the males, which can grow up to six feet long. They are elusive creatures, relying on camouflage and stealth to evade predators, and are most active during the early morning and late afternoon. It is possible to harvest up to a 60” kudu on this concession at no additional cost! The Blue wildebeest is a species native to the grasslands and savannas of Eastern and Southern Africa. These animals are easily recognizable by their robust build, curved horns, and distinctive bluish-gray coats with dark vertical stripes. Hunting blue wildebeest is exciting, and takes place during early morning or late afternoon hours when the animals are most active. Using spot-and-stalk techniques, you’ll move quietly through the bush and use natural cover to remain undetected.
Red hartebeest and zebras are iconic species of the African savannas. The red hartebeest, with its elongated face, striking reddish-brown coat, and distinctive horns, is known for its speed and agility, and is often found grazing on grasses in open plains. Zebras sport striking white-and-black stripes and are social animals. This outfitter has taken multiple red hartebeests this year over 23” and has very good quality examples of both. Blesbuck are a distinctive antelope native to the grasslands of South Africa They are easily identified by their striking white facial blaze and rich brown coat. Hunting blesbok offers a unique challenge due to their keen senses and the open habitats they occupy and often requires a strategic approach to navigate their open environments where cover is sparse.
The impala is another antelope native to the vast grasslands and woodlands of Africa. It sports a slender physique, distinctive lyre-shaped horns, and a russet coat adorned with striking markings. Renowned for their agility and alertness, impalas are adept at evading predators and navigating their dynamic habitats. Warthogs are members of the pig family and are characterized by their large, flat heads adorned with wart-like protrusions and impressive tusks. They are agile and can reach impressive speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. Hunters often employ tracking and ambush techniques, taking advantage of the warthogs' predictable feeding patterns and reliance on water sources.
The Hunting Area and Terrain:
This hunt for plains game takes place on a 17,000-acre concession in Kwazulu-Natal. This game reserve gets very little hunting pressure, and it's an incredible experience to hunt in an area that has seen little to no human interaction. The area has a lot of mixed terrain, from open grassy plains in parts to deep valleys and mountains in others. There are many patches of thick bush that are spread across the area. This concession also hosts 4 out of the big 5, with only lions not being present here. There is a very high amount of animals present on this concession, in particular blesbuck, zebra, kudu, blue wildebeest, eland, and red hartebeest. The most exceptional trophies to come out of this concession are kudu, eland, red hartebeest, blesbuck, and wildebeest. 60”+ kudu can be found here or in the surrounding free-range area with hard work and time. Those seeking a chance at a 60”+ kudu should book during April and May. It is suggested that your primary focus is on kudu hunting. (Anything over 60” carries an additional $8,000 trophy fee).
Eland bulls here are old and have the in-demand fringe and the body size that hunters are after. Many red hartebeest measure above 23" and there are many blesbucks at 16-18''. There is an abundance of Cape buffalo as well that range from 40'' up to 48''
The outfitter has 4 of the big 5 on this concession and you will likely see the resident hippos and crocodiles while hunting your plains game trophies.
Hunting Seasons:
This hunt is available from March through September, but the ideal times are April through July. Coming anytime during this period is prime hunting time as it is cooler and animals will be more active.
