THE WEST AFRICA SAVANNA BUFFALO
The West African savanna buffalo is distributed above the rain forest in Cameroon into West Central Africa. This buffalo is smaller than the Cape buffalo, with weights up to 500 kg. The horns are smaller than other buffalos but are still heavy. The body color can vary from a reddish brown to a deep black and both color variations may be present in the same groups.
The primary method of hunting these buffalo is by tracking them on foot. These buffalo are very brave and are known for providing an exciting and breathtaking hunt.
THE SAVANNA BUFFALO HUNTING SEASON
The Savanna buffalo season runs from January – April, with the best time being January to mid-March
The Savanna Buffalo Hunting Area
The Savanna buffalo hunting area consists of two adjacent blocks totaling over 600,000 acres and borders the Benoue River and the Benoue National Park. The area has lots of wells, a substantial aquifer, and rivers that provide water for game year-round. This constant supply of water keeps game in this area throughout the year.
The terrain is a combination of hills and valleys covered by savanna forests and big open grass areas. The tall grass is burned before each year’s hunting season to increase the new grass shoots and to increase visibility.

Testimonials
"I looked long and far for a good deal on a lioness hunt. By far, Discount African Hunts had the best price. I had the hunt of a lifetime and took a beautiful lioness at close range with my bow. The Professional Hunter was first class, the lodge was first class and my whole experience was unbelievable. I will book with John Martins when I return to Africa to hunt leopard in Zimbabwe.
