This is a hunt for a Sable bull on an 8,500-acre concession in the Northwest Province of South Africa. The concession is only 2 hours from the Johannesburg Airport so it will not require a long tiring drive. There are over 180 resident sable bulls on this concession along with a good variety of other plains game. All of the bulls are 40" or larger. This outfitter has several other concessions in the area so most common plains game species are available.
You will be staying at a comfortable lodge that has individual chalets with in-suite bathrooms featuring walk-in showers. Air conditioning is available in the rooms. Staying at this lodge is a great experience and you will find the wine and food to be superb. Leaving to go home will be tough! This is a great lodge to bring your wife or guest along to, as it has all of the comforts South Africa is famous for in a beautiful setting. This lodge and concession is a great place to hunt trophy sable while enjoying South African hospitality.
Hunting methods for this Sable hunt in South Africa will consist of searching for game and then stalking on foot to get within shooting range of your targeted trophy. Your PH will be a highly experienced hunter who is adept at helping you put your trophies in the salt. For those of you who are bow hunters, your best chance of success will be by hunting from a hide and waiting for the sable to come into the water hole or nearby mineral lick. Supplemental feeding may be utilized in the dry months.
This outfitter is located on the Northwest Escarpment, which allows them to hunt most species found in South Africa. They have bushveld, mountains, and open plains on the plateau, all nearby.
This hunt is available from March through November, with the winter months being the preferred time (June-Sept). This is the perfect hunt to combine with a Cape buffalo hunt, as this outfitter also specializes in Cape buffalo hunting and has personally guided many buffalo hunters to their trophy buffalo!
