The Discounted Leopard Hunt Areas
This discounted leopard hunt will either take place in the West Nicholson area or the Marula area. Both areas are known as some of the best leopard areas in Zimbabwe. The West Nicholson hunting area is 30,000 acres and has consistently provided good-sized leopards for this outfitter for many years. The area is a 3-hour drive to the Southwest from Bulawayo. I have personally hunted this general area and took a leopard that killed a villager there in 2021. There are lots of leopards in this area.
The Marula hunting area is close to Matobopas National Park and therefore receives spill-over animals from the National Park. That provides the food to maintain a healthy leopard population which includes some big males!
The terrain consists of thick wooded areas mixed with open grasslands with rocky granite koppies and rivers scattered through the areas. This makes the perfect habitat for large leopard and these areas have produced some monsters that were over 17” SCI. This outfitter has been professionally recognized for taking many of the biggest cats taken during year.
LEOPARD HUNTING METHODS
Your hunt will begin by either shooting some bait animals or by checking the baits if you had arranged for pre-baiting in advance. Once a suitable male cat has been identified on a bait by trail camera, A blind will carefully be constructed to give you an unobstructed view of the leopard bait. Then you will sit in the blind from late afternoon until midnight or possible latter.
A typical day’s hunt will consist of a quick breakfast and then departing camp to scout for leopard tracks and to gather bait that is required to keep the baits fresh. After returning for lunch, you will continue hanging and checking baits and may hunt other animals when not doing the bait run.

This hunt will occur on private land, so using lights at night during the hunt is legal!
This will continue daily until a leopard is harvested. After you have taken your leopard, other animals are available depending on the area you are hunting leopard in.
LEOPARD BAIT PRICING:
Impala $150 ea.
Zebra $600 ea.
THE LEOPARD HUNTING CAMPS
The camp you will stay in will depend on the tag that is issued for the leopard hunt. The outfitter has tented or thatched-roof tented camps in both hunting areas that feature comfortable beds and in-suite bathrooms. It is also possible that you will stay in a nearby lodge if it proves more convenient to the leopard hunting area. Camp power is provided by generator. There is no cell phone service or internet in camp but periodic trips to a hill where you may receive service and data can be arranged.
Taxidermy / Dip and Pack
The outfitter used Collet’s Taxidermy in Bulawayo.
GETTING THERE
You will fly to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe where you will be met by the outfitter. You will then drive from 2-3.5 hours to the camp, settle in and sight in your rifle. Your hunt will then begin in earnest. After the last full hunting day, you will depart camp and return to Bulawayo. You may need to stay overnight an additional day to facilitate taking and receiving the results from a Covid-19 Test.

Testimonials
"I booked the hunt through John Martins, the owner of Discount African Hunts. It was a smooth transaction and he provided me with good and accurate information."
"This 10 day package safari was a fantastic experience. I learned many new hunting skills and made new friends. I would go back and do it again in a heartbeat. I'm going back. That says it all. Thanks to Discount African Hunts for setting me up on a fantastic plains game safari."

"First, I wanted to tell you the buffalo hunt with the outfitter you booked me with was great! The PH took me to a farm where there was a good herd of buffalo and I shot a 40” old dagga boy. I could have taken another one a bit wider, 42”, with hard bosses but he did not have that old rough beat-up look I was after."
