This is an amazing opportunity to hunt a Cape Buffalo cow at the lowest price I have ever seen in Africa! These hunts can be incredibly fun and exciting hunting one of the big 5, especially if you tack on a couple of plains game animals to it!

About the Cape Buffalo Cow:

The Cape Buffalo is one of Africa’s most formidable and respected big-game animals. Known for its massive build, giant horns, and unpredictable nature, it has earned the nickname "Black Death" due to its reputation for being one of the most dangerous animals to hunt in Africa. These powerful animals roam the bush in large herds, providing safety in numbers against predators like lions. Despite their bulk, they are surprisingly agile and capable of charging at speeds of up to 35 mph when threatened.

While bulls often get the spotlight for their impressive size and aggressive displays, Cape Buffalo cows are just as fierce—if not more so—especially when it comes to protecting their young. Unlike bulls, which tend to be more solitary or form bachelor groups as they age, cows stay together in tightly bonded maternal herds, forming a nearly impenetrable wall of defense around their calves. If a threat approaches, the entire herd will respond, with cows being among the first to charge with relentless aggression. They are known to circle around injured or vulnerable members, attacking anything they perceive as a danger. This fearless and coordinated defense strategy makes the Cape Buffalo cows some of the most dangerous and exciting animals to hunt for in Africa!

The Hunting Area and Terrain:

This hunting concession in Limpopo Province, South Africa, spans nearly 7,500 acres of wild, diverse terrain. The hunt will take place near Alldays, just south of the Botswana border.  The area offers a diverse mix of landscapes that make for an exciting experience hunting buffalo.

The terrain here has a bit of everything—open grassy plains for great visibility and spotting herds of buffalo, thick bushveld where buffalo tend to bed down and lie in wait during the day, and lots of bushveld with tall trees and low shrubs throughout. Some rolling hills add variety to the scenery, supplemented by riverine areas that run through parts of the concession. These serve as natural attractants for game as well. With such a mix of environments, this area offers not only great hunting, but a good sample of South Africa’s untamed wilderness.

Hunting Seasons:

This hunt is able to be booked for any time during the year. This year-round schedule allows you the most flexibility in planning your trip, however, the outfitter does recommend that the most optimal time to come for your buffalo cow hunt is from May through September. This is when the bush will be a little less thick, offering the best chance to find a good shooter!

About the Outfitter:

For years, this outfitter has been providing unforgettable hunting experiences, earning a reputation for excellence in service and trophy quality. Now, he’s offering his incredible packages through Discount African Hunts, giving hunters the chance to experience world-class hunting at an unbeatable value.

From the moment you arrive, he and his team go the extra mile to ensure you feel welcome, comfortable, and fully immersed in the adventure. Their dedication to top-tier trophies and customer satisfaction is evident in every detail, from the expertly managed hunting concession, which maintains a strong population of high-quality game, to the well-kept lodge where a skilled staff ensures a relaxing and enjoyable stay. If you're looking for a hunt that combines top-notch accommodations, expertly managed game populations, and a team that truly cares about your experience, this is one I highly recommend!

Lodge and Accommodations:

For this Cape Buffalo cow hunt, you will be staying at the outfitter’s main lodge. It is a 3.5-star luxurious lodge with full permanent power and generator backups, A/C in the rooms, a pool, lounge, bar, and patio. The lodge staff are all great and willing to take care of whatever you need!

The food here is also phenomenal, and certainly one of the premier perks about staying here. You won’t be disappointed with your meals anytime during your stay! Also, cell phone and internet service are available while in camp.

A Typical Day Hunting:

For this hunt, you’ll be spotting and stalking herds of Cape buffalo. In the morning, you can expect to wake up early to a light breakfast before heading out into the bush. During the morning hunt, you and your PH will be keeping an eye out for any buffalo you may see or any signs that there was buffalo close by earlier. Once the buffalo or their sign are found, it's time to hunt! Expect to hunt with your feet, as you will be tracking and stalking these animals for however long it takes to get a glimpse of the herd and to see if there is a shooter cow in it. These stalks can take all day and get you right up close and personal with the so-called Black Death of Africa. You’ll need to stay sharp and aware of your surroundings if you are to make a successful harvest!

For those of you who may be limited in mobility, hunting the cows from a blind can be your method to sucess.

Once you and your PH locate and agree that a suitable shooter cow has been found, it’s time to take your shot. You’ll have to find the right angle and range to set up and line up your shot. Once you pull the trigger, be ready to follow up as these cows don’t go down easily! With a herd of buffalo running around, you’ll need to stay zoned in once you shoot to watch the path of the cow and ensure a successful recovery! Once she’s downed, the camp staff will come and clean her and bring her back to camp. Then if you want the skull and horns or the cape, she’ll be skinned and salted and transferred to Splitting Image Taxidermy!

Other Available Animals:

There are many other great animals to take if you have the chance during or after your spiral horn slam hunt! The species on the Price List below are all able to be found in trophy quality here on the concession!

Trophy Care and Shipping:

Your animal will be skinned and put in salt after harvesting. Splitting Image will typically pick up your skins within 30 days after your safari ends.

Testimonials

"I looked long and far for a good deal on a lioness hunt.  By far, Discount African Hunts had the best price.  I had the hunt of a lifetime and took a beautiful lioness at close range with my bow.  The Professional Hunter was first class, the lodge was first class and my whole experience was unbelievable.  I will book with John Martins when I return to Africa to hunt leopard  in Zimbabwe.
