Dangerous Game Hunting Safaris in Zimbabwe
Dangerous game hunts in Zimbabwe offer the most affordable trophy hunting in Africa. Although much of Zimbabwe’s plains game on its ranches were killed and eaten during the political instability there, the big game seems to have survived. Much of the dangerous game hunting safaris in Zimbabwe are now conducted in areas that abut the numerous Zimbabwe National Parks and adjoining countries. These parks serve as a sanctuaries for these animals to survive and multiply in, and the excess animals spill out of the parks and offer great dangerous game hunting opportunities to hunt for trophy sized animals. Combined with Zimbabwe’s Campfire Program that gives local communities a vested interest in the monies generated by dangerous game hunting, these factors have led to a resurgence of excellent dangerous game hunting safaris in Zimbabwe.
Dangerous game hunts in Zimbabwe also offer the most affordable Cape buffalo hunts in Africa. The average buffalo taken in Zimbabwe today averages about 35-37”, but there are areas that produce much larger trophies, with the areas next to Zimbabwe’s Gonarezhou National Park and South Africa’s Kruger National Park producing exceptional trophies that may range up to 50”. These two areas also offer exceptional elephant hunting. During the spring maize cropping season, great trophy elephant bulls venture out of the parks at night to feed in the local community’s fields. Some true monster elephant bulls are taken during this time and this is one of the only remaining hunts where a dangerous game hunter in Zimbabwe has a chance at taking a 100 pounder. Other areas in Zimbabwe that are famous for their elephant hunting are concessions that border Hwange National Park south west of Victoria Falls and the Mana Pools area east of Victoria Falls near the Zambia border. The mighty Zambezi river also offers some great hunting for trophy crocodiles and hippos.
Zimbabwe is famous for its leopard hunting and is the only country in Africa where it is currently legal to hunt leopards with dogs. Zimbabwe hunting also permits the use of artificial light while cat hunting, which increases leopard hunting odds significantly. Good lion hunting exists today in Zimbabwe, but permits are limited and highly sought after. Hippo and crocodile are also available as dangerous game and many of these hunts are done on the shores of Lake Kariba. This variety and availability of dangerous game hunts in Zimbabwe makes this country one of the must hunt destinations in Africa, and a great place to take a dream dangerous game hunting safari in Zimbabwe.

'It was the most exciting hunt I have ever been on. We stalked a small bachelor group for a few days before I shot a mature cape buffalo with my Browning 375 H&H.'
'This was my third hunt with Discount African Hunts and each one has been fantastic. I don't think I would book my future African hunts with anyone else.'

"I had the hunting experience of a lifetime. And I have a real need to go back. I made many new friends from South Africa, Australia and the USA.
I strongly recommend both Discount African Hunts and this outfitter. John Martins set me up with a great outfitter, answered all my questions and made sure I had all my paperwork in order A to Z."
