Spot and Stalk Offered January - March
This is a fabulous destination to spot and stalk a Cape buffalo bull on a 70,000-acre hunting concession in Northern Limpopo. Very few outfitters have the experience to guide bow hunters on the spot and stalk buffalo hunts, but this is one of them. With a massive property including 22 well-built bow hunting blinds, this is a hunting destination that should not be missed.
THIS IS NOT A PUT AN TAKE AREA! All animals are born here and live their lives here!
The Cape Buffalo Spot and Stalk Area
This massive 70,000-acre hunting concession in Northern Limpopo is located near the town of Tolwe. The terrain is relatively flat but features thick bushveld typical of northern Limpopo.
This is one of the largest hunting concessions in this part of South Africa.
There are thousands of animals on this concession and with this type of surface area, it is unlikely that you will hunt the same area twice. There are over 20 waterholes, so the property has the water resources to support thousands of animals. And they are here! I saw 400-600 animals each day and had constant action at the blind even on the full moon in March.
Spot and Stalk Cape Buffalo Hunting
A typical day spot and stalking Cape buffalo will begin with a good breakfast and driving on dirt roads looking for fresh tracks. The tracks on the roads are a better indicator if the tracks are fresh or not than those found at the waterholes. Once fresh tracks are found, the skilled tracker will be utilized to begin following the tracks until you catch up with the buffalo and are able to assess their size. You will likely be tracking dagga boys, as the herds are just too difficult to stalk due to the number of buffalo watching for danger.
You should be in good shape for this hunt, as it is likely to involve a significant amount of walking!
Other animals are available after your Cape buffalo bull is in the salt. See the following price list for additionally available animals:
BOW BLINDS
This property features a good mix of elevated and permanent bow blinds strategically situated on waterholes. The waterholes also feature salt licks. No feeding is done unless there is a drought, as enough animals are present that feeding is unnecessary.
BEST SEASONS TO SPOT AND STALK CAPE BUFFALO WITH A BOW
The outfitter advises January - March when the bush is green and thick for better concealment. But those months are hot. You need to be able to handle the heat in the warmer months. If you want to hunt in the cooler months, this hunt can be done from a blind if stalking proves too difficult.
Recommended and Minimum Bow Requirements for Buffalo Hunting
The outfitter recommends a minimum 70 lb. compound bow shooting a heavy big game arrow and a 200 – 250 grain 2 Blade single Bevel broadheads such as a German Kinetic or Grizzly Stick.
For Crossbow hunters, a minimum 400 fps crossbow with a heavy bolt and a 200-250 grain broadhead.
As with most bow hunting, shot placement is critical.
The 4-Star Tented Cape Buffalo Camp
The camp consists of a centrally located main lodge building situated on the top of a hill with a commanding view of the surrounding bushveld. The camp features 4 large luxury tents with en-suite bathrooms and showers. All of the windows are screened for ventilation and feature two large beds. The units feature infrared gas heaters for cold nights and individual gas operated hot water heaters. It is hard to tell you are in a tent. The tents are covered with two separate rain flys for ventilation and to keep the sun off of the tents.
The tents are separated well away from the other client tents for privacy and each tent is built on a large wooden deck with a railing and comfortable outdoor seating.
There is also a 5th permanent chalet that features two beds.
The maximum number of hunters and observers at this camp is 10.
GETTING THERE
Most clients will arrive in Johannesburg and overnight at the AfricaSky Boutique Hotel. If your flight arrives in the morning, the outfitter can pick you up and drive straight to camp. But if you are arriving in the afternoon or early evening, I recommend that you stay overnight and drive to camp the next morning after breakfast. It is about a 4-hour drive. That way you get 2 nights of good rest before beginning your dangerous game hunt.
This is the place to hunt if you want to hunt a Cape buffalo bull with a bow or a crossbow in South Africa. The outfitter has the place, the animals, and the experience to make your Cape buffalo Spot and Stalk Cape buffalo hunt successful.
DEPOSIT POLICY
A 30% deposit paid directly to the agent is required to reserve dates. The balance of the package and any trophy fees for animals killed or wounded or additional charges incurred are due at the end of the safari in US cash, Credit Card (Master Card or Visa), or bank wire before leaving camp. No exceptions to the final payment policy.
CANCELLATION POLICY
All deposits are non-refundable. The safari may be rescheduled once at the outfitter’s discretion subject to available dates, as long as it is requested a minimum of 60 days in advance. Any rescheduled safaris are subject to a $150 administration fee payable directly to the Agent. Safaris that are rescheduled to a subsequent year are subject to that year’s pricing and available dates. Trip insurance is available to cover unforeseen circumstances that may arise.

Testimonials
"In August 2014 I took a lioness hunt with Discount African Hunts in the Northwest Province of South Africa. The PH's worked hard to customize the hunt for me as I wanted a challenging stalk ending with taking the lioness at close range by an open sighted double rifle. They exceeded my expectations as 12 miles of tracking ended with me shooting the highly agitated lioness at a distance of 25 yards with a couple of rounds of 450 NE".
"I highly recommend a lioness hunt with Discount African Hunts."
