This 14-animal cull hunt will have you shooting loads of animals in no time! Taking this many animals at this price is an incredible deal and allows you to add female examples to your collection if you choose! Because this concession is so abundant and over-populated with game, finding these animals will be a breeze and you’ll be shooting nonstop! Plus, you’ll be staying at a 4-star lodge while here and enjoying top-notch food, amenities, and service!

The Hunting Area and Terrain:

The outfitter has managed this game reserve for a decade, taking every step possible to ensure it is the most well-managed concession it can be. There has been very minimal hunting pressure on it for years, and because of that the animals here are abundant and docile! The 17,000-acre space is located in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa and is a 4-hour drive from O.R. Tambo, making it easily accessible by car as well, so no need for secondary flights or difficult traveling logistics!

The reserve is also quite varied in its terrain makeup. Unlike many concessions that have the same type of bush, here at this reserve, you can find yourself glassing for animals from rocky mountainsides, down in open valleys, stalking through dense bush, and walking across open rolling plains. This diverse landscape provides an excellent hunting experience, as you will constantly be engaging with new terrain and exploring new areas. This varied terrain also makes it easy to keep such a wide variety of animals on the reserve, as evidenced by the fact that four out of the big five can be found here! Expect to see rhinos, elephants, and buffalo while out and about!

Keep in mind that this concession hosts top-notch trophies! If you see a trophy you’d like to have you can always shoot off the pricelist. The eland, kudu, wildebeest, red hartebeest, and blesbuck are all of exceptional quality and abundance in particular. 60”+ kudu can be found with hard work and effort on the surrounding free range areas, with April and May being the best times to spot one of those (any kudu over 60” incurs an additional $8,000 trophy fee). Giant cape buffalo can also be found here, and they range between 40” - 48”.

There are also many crocs and hippos on this reserve as well, so you can expect to see them by many of the reserve’s water sources. They can get big and hungry here, so watch out!

Hunting Seasons:

This hunt is available from March through September, but the outfitter recommends coming from June through September for this hunt.

Wing Shooting:

Wing shooting days may be added in season. A mixture of upland bird hunting for Franklin and Guinea, Doves and Pigeons, and Ducks and Geese is available at an all-in daily rate of $345/day. Rifle rental is $25 / day plus ammo at cost. The current cost of shotgun ammo is about $17 / box.

Wing Shooting Seasons:

  • May: Ducks, Geese, Franklin and Guinea
  • June – August: Doves and Pigeons, Franklin and Guinea, Ducks and Geese

Wing Shooting Methods:

  • Pigeons and Doves – Hunt over Maize Fields
  • Franklin and Guinea – Hunt behind dogs or with the use of beaters
  • Ducks and Geese – Hunt from Blinds in the evenings when the birds are returning

About the Outfitter:

This outfitter excels at providing the best possible experience to his guests, He ensures his staff has a client-first mentality and works to ensure every little detail is thought of and prepared for you during your trip. From hunting in the bush to staying at the 4-star lodge, you can rest assured everything has been taken care of and that you will be well cared for. From the moment you are picked up at the airport, you will see the level of quality they provide. This outfitter has also been solely managing this reserve for the past decade and is extremely proud of the quality and variety of animals they have been able to cultivate here over that time. Since beginning their management of the area, the land has consistently produced some of the highest-quality trophies around. He has ensured that it is not overhunted, which has led to an abundance of exceptional trophies and docile animals. You’ll be in good hands with this experienced and welcoming outfitter.

Lodge and Accommodations:

This lodge can host up to 12 people in 6 rooms. Each room features a queen bed that can be split into two singles if you require. Each room also has its own private en-suite bathroom, as well as outlets and fans in each room. The beds are very comfortable as well.

The lodge is of a traditional African style. There is a communal lounge, bar area, outdoor patio, firepit, and pool as well. The food here is very good, and the lodge staff are all very well trained and make sure that your comfort is prioritized during your stay there. They keep up the lodge impeccably. Cell phone and internet service is available here at the lodge as well.

A Typical Day Hunting:

You can expect your typical day to begin before first light. You’ll wake up and head to breakfast, which will be either be coffee and rusks or a larger, fully prepared spread depending on what you prefer. During this time, your hunting vehicle will be loaded up with snacks and cold drinks. Your PH will make sure everything you need for your hunt that day will be in the vehicle. After breakfast, you’ll get your rifle and head out into the field to begin your morning hunt!

Once you’ve headed out, it will be time to start looking for the right cull animals. You and your PH will be doing lots of glassing looking for the right shooters. When your PH finds a suitable animal, they will let you know and you’ll begin to get close with a stalk. Although this game reserve has a huge abundance of animals on it, these cull hunts will take patience and effort to find a suitable cull animal.

Once the afternoon sun starts to peak, it’s time to head back to the lodge during the heat of the day. Lunch will be served when you are back, and the coolers in your truck will be refilled with ice, drinks, and snacks. You’ll have a few hours to catch up on some sleep, relax, or do some work before heading out with your PH again for the evening hunt. You’ll continue hunting until sunset when you’ll head back to camp. A full sit-down dinner should be ready to be served just as you’re getting back. Enjoy some amazing food from the chef, have a couple of drinks, and then finish your night at the firepit under the African stars, getting yourself ready to conquer tomorrow’s hunt!

"Talk about dreams being handed to you!!  From John's recommendation to stay at the AfricaSky Hotel to the outfitter he booked me with, I was treated like royalty.   Next year's hunt won't require research past his website.  Thanks John."

"I booked a plains game hunt in South Africa through Discount African Hunts.  The price was half of what other outfitters were selling the same package of animals for.  After being assured by John Martins that this offer was for real I went ahead and booked.  Everything turned out just like I was told and I took 7 beautiful trophies on the trip of my lifetime.  Don't let the low prices hold you back.  I am sure I will never take a hunt of this quality again at a price like I paid. My hunt was awesome!"

"I was hunting with my son and my batchmate from school. We had an experience of a life time and will definitely repeat the experience again. The weather was perfect. We shot Kudu / Zebra / Wildebeest / Impala / Red Hartebeest / Blesbuck / a day of bird shooting."

"We took back  memories for a life time  and will surly recommend the experience to other hunters."
