This hunt will have you bow-hunting some big Limpopo kudu trophies! This concession is renowned for its abundance and quality of kudu and is perfectly set up for bow hunting.
About the Kudu:
Kudus are large antelopes found in the woodlands and scrublands of Africa, known for their majestic appearance and impressive spiral horns. These horns are a symbol of dominance and are used for defense against predators and for sparring during mating competitions. With their striking markings and large, radar-like ears, kudus possess unique traits that makes them stand out in their natural habitat.
In addition to their physical beauty, kudus play a vital role in their ecosystems as browsers and grazers, feeding on a variety of vegetation. Their diet includes leaves, shoots, fruits, and grasses, which they obtain by browsing at various heights. Kudus are also important prey species for predators like lions and leopards, contributing to the intricate balance of predator-prey relationships in African savannas and woodlands.
The Hunting Area and Terrain:
Located in the heart of the Witfontein Rand Mountain Range, this family-owned concession spans over 17,000 acres of pristine bushveld, offering breathtaking views and a lush environment. With a rich diversity of wildlife including buffalo, giraffe, and Livingstone eland, the concession is renowned for its high-quality animals, particularly its impressive and abundant Kudu bulls. Giant kudus are the prime specialty of this outfitter among all else, and this property will ensure you a great chance to harvest a truly magnificent trophy. This concession is renowned for being home to some of the largest kudu trophies in the country. The region's diverse habitat and favorable conditions contribute to the impressive size of these majestic animals. The Eland bulls here are also exceptional. There are Livingstone Eland on the concession, as well as some bulls that are crossed between Cape and Livingstone Bulls. They run quite a bit larger than a typical Cape eland bull. The buffalo here are also top-class trophies as well. There are 12 comfortable blinds strategically positioned throughout the concession, providing the best opportunity for bow hunters to harvest the best trophies possible.
Hunting Seasons:
This hunt is available anytime during the year, but ideal times are March through November on the new moon. To stay comfortable in the blind, we recommend June - September. Coming during this period is prime hunting time for big trophy kudu.
About the Kudu Outfitter:
When it comes to bow hunting in South Africa, experience and dedication are key. This outfitter has been providing top-quality bow-hunting experiences in South Africa for years. They specialize in bow hunting giant kudu and their mission is to always ensure you harvest the highest quality trophies regardless of whether you are a beginner or expert bow hunter. Your PH will always accompany you to ensure you get the most out of your hunt and always have the best opportunities you can to shoot your trophy. This outfitter has 12 comfortable bow blinds spread across the concession to make sure there is always a good place for you and your PH to sit no matter which way the wind is blowing.
The Kudu Lodge and Accommodations:
This concession features a very comfortable 3-star lodge. There is a separate inside dining area, lapa (outside dining area), pool, and lounge area to relax and unwind after your day’s hunt. The lodge has four rooms and each room can accommodate up to two adults. There are also en-suite bathrooms attached to each room.
This camp has very comfortable beds and great food. The camp staff are highly attentive to any needs you may have and are committed to ensuring your stay is enjoyable. Cell phone and internet services are available while in camp.
A Typical Day Hunting Kudu:
You can expect to begin your average day by waking up before sunrise and enjoying a full breakfast with your PH. While bow hunting it is preferred to have a full breakfast in camp and take a packed lunch with you to maximize your time in a blind. After breakfast, you’ll head out either to the blind you and your PH picked for the day or head out to do some spot and stalk hunting, depending on what you and your PH think will be the best option for the day. Because the camp is located in the concession, there’s no need for any long drives in the morning so you can stay hunting longer. Once sunset arrives and it begins to get dark, you’ll head back to camp where dinner and drinks will be served, and you and your PH will plan for tomorrow’s adventure.
Trophy Care and Shipping:
Once your bow hunt is concluded, this outfitter understands that taking good care of your trophies and ensuring they get shipped properly is of the utmost importance. They will be taking every necessary step to ensure your trophy is handled and prepared properly before it leaves camp.
They will first conduct all field preparation of your trophies after you harvest the animal. Your trophy will be skinned and the hide salted. Splitting Image Taxidermy will pick up your trophies from the concession no more than 10 days after your hunt has concluded for further processing then.
Getting There:
Typically all international flights fly into OR Tambo Int Airport in Johannesburg. Depending on your arrival time, you will either meet directly with the outfitter at the airport and be driven to camp that afternoon, or you’ll stay overnight at the AfricaSky guest house and be driven to camp the next morning. It is a short 2 ½ hour drive to camp from the airport once you are picked up.
Deposit and Payment Policy:
