The Plains Game Hunting Safari Area
The hunting location for this 5-star beginner's plains game hunting safari will take place in South Africa's Limpopo Province’s Waterberg Mountains. The hunting areas are located within the Waterberg Mountains "Biosphere Reserve" which is a UNESCO-protected area. Animal quality here is maintained by strict quotas. The 5-Star hunting lodge is a 3-hour drive north of Johannesburg. A 10,000-acre privately owned reserve featuring three 5-star lodges will be the location for this hunt. This area is well known for the great plains game hunting and Cape buffalo hunting that it produces.
The Leopard Lodge
During your 5-Star beginner's plains game hunting safari in South Africa, you will stay in the magnificent 5-Star Leopard Lodge. The Leopard Lodge features 10 double-bed luxurious accommodations featuring en-suite bathrooms.
The Leopard Lodge and the rooms are designed in an African architectural style with beautiful animal carvings on the pillars and furniture – blending perfectly together with its surroundings. In each room, you will find specially imported beds and duvets guaranteeing your sleeping pleasure after a long day. You will have all the high-end modern facilities you may need, including free internet and Wi-Fi in the lounge area. Furthermore, you will find fans/air-conditioning, a safety box, and adaptors for European and American plugs in each room. In all of the rooms you will find towels, shampoo, and body wash. The beds are comfortable box mattresses, with duvets and pillows.
The rooms are cleaned, and towels are replaced every day. The power supply is 230V and you will find adaptors suited for European and American plugs in every room.

The Animal Museum
There is an extensive on-site African animal museum featuring full mounts of the big five and many other African species. You may arrange to receive a tour of the animal museum and the wine cellar.
The Wine Cellar
Beneath the animal museum, there is an extensive well-stocked wine cellar where wine tastings may be arranged. Although your hunt includes a beverage package, you may order special bottles of wine from the cellar to be served with your dinner.
The Bar and Pool
The lodge features a fully-stocked bar overlooking the pool area and is manned by a bartender during the appropriate hours. There is a pool and a heated spa for you and your family to relax in after the hunt.
The Companions Program
A special program of activities is available to those observers who do not wish to hunt or only want to accompany the hunter for part of the time they are hunting. Trophy Plains Game Hunting Methods
Hunting methods for this 5-Star trophy plains game hunting safari package will consist of early morning drives searching for suitable game. Once suitable members of the species you are targeting are spotted, you will begin a stalk on foot until a good shot opportunity is presented. Some walking and glassing will also occur.
If you are bow hunting, the months of June – September during the new moon are the best times to go. It can get hot in some of the blinds during the middle of the day, so appropriate clothing should be worn.
The Kudu Rut
If you plan on adding a trophy kudu to your package, the best time to hunt with a rifle is during the kudu rut. The kudu rut in this area is from late April until the middle of June. Big kudu are also taken in the dry winter months of July-September by sitting on waterholes similar to what would be done when bow hunting.Trail cameras are used to identify areas that have daytime activity by big kudus.

Travel Details
Most hunters will overnight in Johannesburg at the Afton Guest House and then the outfitter will have you picked up in the morning and transported a 3-hour drive by vehicle to the hunting concession, where you can settle in and sight in your rifles in preparation for the next day's hunt.
Taxidermy
You will have the opportunity to visit an excellent taxidermist before you head home. They will also handle your dip and pack and shipping should you wish to ship your trophy to your taxidermist in the US. This outfitter uses the only taxidermist that I would recommend in all of Africa!

Deposit Policy: A deposit of $ 1,000 US is required at the time of booking to secure dates. The balance of the package and any additional fees for additional animals taken or wounded are due on the last day of the hunt, before departing camp. The outfitter accepts Credit Cards (Visa and Mastercard), debit cards, and US cash.
Cancellation Policy: Deposits are non-refundable but hunts can be extended in the same year or to subsequent years at the outfitter's discretion. Any increase in price or increase due to the exchange rate for hunts extended to subsequent years will be the client’s responsibility. All rescheduled hunts are subject to a $150 administration fee, which will be collected by the booking agent before processing the change.
