This is a discounted 10-day / 10-animal hunting safari package in South Africa’s Eastern Cape. The hunt will be guided by a well-known outfitter that is located near Jansenville in the Eastern Cape. He has 14,000 acres of prime habitat and also hunts adjacent concessions. The Eastern Cape is known for its wide diversity and quantities of trophy plains game animals, and this concession fits that description well. The diversity of animals here is simply incredible, with over 25 species of animals available in the area.
THE HUNTING SAFARI AREAS
The hunt will take place on the outfitter's 14,000-acre main concession and on several nearby concessions. The hunting area is south of Graff-Reinet near Jansenville. The area features natural wild animals that have adapted to the conditions of the Eastern Cape. The main lodge is a 2-hour drive from Port Elizabeth. The terrain consists of a mix of mountains, valleys, and savanna. The area has great kudu hunting and has large numbers of springbok, impala, and blesbok.
SAFARI HUNTING METHODS
This safari will primarily be done by driving and spotting or driving and then hiking on foot to spots with a good view and then glassing for trophies. Once a desirable trophy animal is located, a plan will be made and then you and your PH will begin stalking the animal on foot until a suitable shot is provided. Pop-up blinds may be used at times for setting up at waterholes or food sources.
You should be in average to good shape ( 2-3 on a 5 scale) to be successful on this safari.
The Eastern Cape produces some exceptional trophy quality. The outfitter’s Eastern Cape Kudu average around 46’’ – 47” with some bigger bulls exceeding 50” being taken annually. The gemsbok in this area average between 36” – 40”. Trophy quality rivals that of other areas in South Africa, with kudu being the exception, as there are no natural greater southern kudu in the Eastern Cape. All of the kudus in this area are Eastern Cape Kudu.
Other animals are available per the price list below:
This hunt is available from March – November. Prime time for Kudu is late April – early June!
THE 3.5-STAR SAFARI LODGES
This hunt will be conducted from a 3.5-Star permanent camp situated in the plains and featuring a swimming pool and a great view of the surrounding hills. The food and beverages are fabulous and dinner will be followed by the hunters gathering around the fire under the southern stars or around the billiards table inside. The large modern rooms feature in-suite bathrooms with showers. The lodge has permanent electrical power. Both cell phone service and internet access are available at the lodge for those of you that want to stay in touch while on safari.

'It was the most exciting hunt I have ever been on. We stalked a small bachelor group for a few days before I shot a mature cape buffalo with my Browning 375 H&H.'
'This was my third hunt with Discount African Hunts and each one has been fantastic. I don't think I would book my future African hunts with anyone else.'
